Product Review: Rimmel Nail Polish

Not to be a product pimp but Rimmel nail polish is the best nail polish in the whole world! They have a ton of really pretty sophisticated shades to choose from. I was really into their Steel Grey for a long time (still love it!), but lately I have been obsessed with their Cherry Fashion which I got in my Christmas stocking from my sister. It is a dark, almost red, matt pink that reminds me of 1950’s pin-ups for some reason. I now think of it as my signature color.

The Red Rock looks fine on me (I am as pale as humanly possible), but I have lent it out to a few friends and have found that it really looks especially pretty on people with a light mocha or darker skin tone. It doesn’t look so great on people who are pale with a yellow hue to their skin (as opposed to a pink hue as I have).

I have also tried several other Rimmel colors including the Midnight Blue, and have been equally happy with them.

The best thing about Rimmel nail polish is that it lasts a really really long time compared to other polishes. You can go almost a whole week without needing to touch it up.

Another thing I like about Rimmel polish is that their brushes are thick so you it only takes a few swipes and you are done. This makes it harder to make mistakes.

Also, you never need more than two coats of paint and can sometimes get away with one which really cuts down on drying time.

I highly recommend this product! I have also gotten a lot of compliments on my nails ever since I discovered this brand.

Nikki O’s Goals For The Year

To get in better shape.
This is not a weight or a looks issue. I simply want to be as strong and as healthy as I can be this year. Today will mark my third Zumba class! It’s a lot of fun and it’s a really intense work out. Other types of exercise I enjoy are walking and yoga. I’m really hoping to stick to a good routine this year.

To eat healthy.
Again, just in the interest of better over-all health. Actually, I have a pretty good jump on this one. I have definitely been eating less junk in the last year. I really try to stay away from most processed food. My downfall is my sweet tooth though. Trader Joe’s Lacey’s Cookies are the devil!

To read more.
For someone who likes to write as much as I do, I use very little of my time to read any more. In the interest of not setting goals that I can’t come through on, I will be happy if I get through on book a month. I am going to try to finally read all of the Harry Potter books before the last movie comes out.

To write something every day.
This blog should help with that one. :)

To get something published.
I write a lot for my job (I am a writer/editor for an environmental agency), but I would really like to see something that I have written appear in print, as opposed to something I have written for the web for work.

To buy a house.
I can’t wait to decorate. I day-dream constantly about the curtains that I will buy for each room! I definitely want to get some interesting ones from Urban Outfitters.

To grow out my hair.
Strangely enough, this might be the hardest goal on my list! I really love short hair, but I have had my hair short for over three years now and I think it is time for a change. I sure will miss cutting it myself though. It is always so much fun to drastically change your look and cutting it is so much faster and more dramatic then growing it out!

I know that some of these goals are pretty lofty, but I think they are all doable. I really think 2011 is going to be a great year!

Who We Are

Rachie and I have been best friends since we were 12 years old (we are now 27). Even though we have lived in different states for more than half of the time we have known each other (I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico and she lives in Portland, Oregon), we have remained best friends throughout the years because we are always there for each other through everything that life brings, even if we cannot always be in the same place at the same time.

I 100 percent believe that we are soul mates and we both absolutely need to know that the other one is out there in the world loving us in order for us to function. It is as simple as that.

We are both soul searchers, who try very hard to be our best selves every day. We both believe that happiness comes from self reflection and self improvement.

We are also both interested in crafts, clothes, good food, and other beautiful things, and that is what this blog is about! We are going to write about all of the things that inspire us and make us happy.

love

Nikki and I have been best friends and soul mates for a million years. In our next lives, we plan on being gay French men. We have a long distance friendship, but we still share one heart. This blog will be a place for us to post our thoughts, insights, loves, and tastes.
